Using Desmos to graph transformations of toolkit functions
In Section 3.6, you learned how to graph toolkit functions. The graph of the parent function was changed by factors such as:
- vertical and horizontal shifts
- reflections about the x-axis and y-axis
- compressions and stretches
- and combinations of the above
To graph a function in Desmos:
- Type the equation into the equation 1 box, pictured in blue.
- You can press enter and type a second equation in box 2, or you can erase the first equation (X) and type a new one.

In Section 3.6, the absolute value function in Figure 9 and 10 can be graphed with this Desmos graphing absolute value tool.
In Section 3.7, the square root function in Figure 3 can be graphed with this Desmos graphing square root tool.
