All chemicals and toxic materials, when not in use, should be stored away from food and food prep areas.  An isolated shelf or chemical room is an appropriate location for cleaning supplies and chemicals.  All chemicals and cleaning equipment should be 6 inches off the floor.  All chemicals should be properly labeled if not stored in the original container.  The name of the chemical, type and appropriate warnings should be visible on the container.  Food or food contact equipment should never be stored near the chemical storage area.

If pesticides are kept onsite, they should never be stored with the cleaning chemicals.  Pesticides should not be easily accessible, they should be in locked storage with limited access.  Empty chemical buckets can be reused only for chemical storage, not food.  A food bucket should only be used for food and never for chemical storage.
