Peer Pointers: Students Helping Students Succeed

At the end of each chapter, there will be a section titled, “Peer Pointers.”

These sections are written from a student that has successfully completed Anatomy & Physiology at the collegiate level and has been effectively helping her peers to reach their potential.

Credit for these sections is given to Sydney Foret, Nursing Major at Nicholls State University.

“Learning about the many structures and processes of the human body may seem like a difficult feat, but it’s more manageable than it appears! With the right strategies, you can learn the content efficiently and effectively. To perform well on your exams, begin reviewing material as soon as you start a new chapter. Break your studying into smaller sessions spread over several days to avoid cramming the night before an exam. Studying in groups is another effective way to reinforce your understanding. Discussing class content with fellow students allows you to apply what you’ve learned and ask questions about topics you may not fully grasp. Finally, take notes by hand during lectures. Writing physical notes can help you stay focused and avoid distractions. Drawing out diagrams and labeling concepts also makes complex material easier to understand. Using these strategies will help you gain confidence—not only in the material, but in the course as a whole.”
