There are many different kinds of joints. It is easiest to remember the difference between them by recalling an example of the joint.

Pivot: C1 and C2, Radius, and Ulna
Hinge: Elbow, Knees
Saddle: Thumb (creates opposable thumbs)
Plane: Gliding between Tarsals
Condyloid: Radius and Carpals
Ball and Socket: Shoulder and Hips
