Homeostasis: the internal control system within the body to help maintain set levels. When certain levels get too high or two low, the body has factors to help return the levels to a stable state. Sweating is a great example of homeostatic regulation! When body temperature is too high, the body cools itself by sweating. Evaporation of sweat acts to lower body temperature to normal (98.6 degrees F)

Structure determines Function: Every structure in the body has a function that is innately determined by it’s anatomy. Organs and tissues are efficiently designed to accomplish specific tasks. For example, nerve cells are long and thin, which allow them to transmit electrical impulses throughout the body. The stomach is an elastic, expandable organ so that it can temporarily store large amounts of food.
