In the nervous system, Afferent and Efferent refer to the direction in which signals travel.
• Afferent- “arrives”, directs information to the CNS, refers to sensory information.
*example: the ability to taste, smell, hear, see, and touch results from Afferent neurons

• Efferent-“exits”, directs information away from the CNS, refers to motor commands
*example: Moving your hand away from a hot
stove, in response to feeling heat.

Why can’t brain cells regenerate? Brain cells can’t
regenerate because they don’t have Centrioles.
Centrioles are a key part of cell division. And
Neurons can’t do mitosis without them.
