pH: pH is vital to proper functioning within the body. pH is involved in several body systems including the Digestive system, the Respiratory System, and the Renal System. The numbered system indicates wether substances are acidic, alkaline, or neutral. pH is controlled by Homeostasis which works to maintain constant levels. Some areas of the body have a higher or lower pH than others. For example, normal blood pH ranges from about 7.35-7.45, while stomach acid maintains a pH of 2.
Nucleic Acids: Nucleic acids are the recipe cards for life! They carry specific instructions that tell the body how to make proteins. There are two main types of nucleic acids: DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid) and RNA (Ribonucleic Acid). The DNA acts like a cookbook that hold instructions for the recipe. The RNA acts as the chef who follows the instructions to create the dish, or the protein.
