  • Rewrote both sections from scratch and removed the original.

Meaning of Division

  • Added introduction.
  • Changed “interpretation” of division to “model” of division.
  • Reordered material.
  • Added transitional phrasing between topics and reworded things throughout.
  • Deleted original exercises 6,7, 18, 19, 20, and reorganized and renumbered remaining exercises.
  • Added example 1.
  • Expanded example 3 to include partition and repeated subtraction.
  • Altered exercise 21 (original 27) to include partition and repeated subtraction.

Binary Operations

Divisibility

  • For divisibility tests: Used families of 2, 3, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12.
  • Replaced the divisibility test for 15 with the test for 12, and replaced the examples and exercises accordingly.

Primes and Greatest Common Factor

  • Removed part “b.” in exercise 1.
  • Rearranged the contents about the Prime Factor Test by adding Example 3.
  • For relative primes, gave more examples to replace the relative primes exercise.
  • Removed the part “using a calculator to find the remainder”
  • Removed the part “revisiting divisibility tests.”

Least Common Multiples and Other Topics

  • Rewording and removed exercise 2.
  • Removed exercises 3 and 6.
  • Replaced “factor” with “prime factors.”
  • Removed the section after Exercise 21.
  • Problems for this part, HW #8, #9, #10, have been removed from the homework.

  • Added “Representations of fractions.”
  • Moved “Equivalent Fractions” and “The Fundamental Law of Fractions” content to this section.
  • Replaced some of the terminology.
  • Deleted the example that involved determining if the pair of fractions is equivalent by writing them as fractions with a common denominator.

Addition and Subtraction of Fractions

  • Created more examples on how to add and subtract fractions with common denominators.
