40 Description of Material Cards for Vision Impairment
Introduction
Elementary classrooms rely heavily on hands-on manipulatives to demonstrate mathematical concepts. Throughout this book you will be asked to participate in activities using paper manipulatives similar to what you will see in the classroom.
Instructions
Some of the material cards rely on size and can be distinguished by touch. For those cards, if possible, print out the material card file and have someone cut them out for you. Store each card’s contents in a separate resealable bag, labeled with the cards title. Each card’s description specifies if it should be printed.

Material Card 17B – Black and White Centimeter Strips
Print.
There are strips of whole number lengths ranging from 1 cm to 12 cm. You can use the 1 cm pieces to determine each piece’s length, but it is more efficient to mark the length on each type to distinguish.
