iii. Campus Resources for Success at UNO
There are numerous resources at the University of New Orleans dedicated to helping you thrive during your time here—and beyond. Whether you’re navigating academics, wellness, finances, or student life, being aware of these services—and actively using them—is key. You may not need everything today, but you will likely rely on at least a few. Know the options. Know where to go. Know how to reach out. Use the following links to explore the support systems already included in your investment as a student and available to everyone.
Academic Resources
Academic Advising — Academic advisors work with students to develop and execute educational plans that are aligned with the student’s personal and academic interests, goals, and career plans. Academic advisors also help students choose (or change) majors, select and register in appropriate courses, get connected with academic support services.
UNO Writing Center — At the UNO Writing Center, writers at all levels, from freshmen to graduate students, can get feedback on their writing and help with any writing problems they may encounter. We at the Writing Center know that writing is hard work, but it can be a lot easier if you have a writing coach to show you some of the tricks of the trade. Just like athletes who work out with trainers and coaches to achieve peak performance, college and professional writers get as much feedback and creative criticism from other writers as possible.
UNO Math Tutoring Center — The math tutoring center helps students learn mathematics and successfully complete their mathematics requirements at UNO. Tutoring is free and does not require an advance appointment. The math tutoring center is in Room 105 in the Math building and their hours each term are posted on the website.
Earl K Long Library — In addition to reference library materials and research, the library housing our learning commons, computers, scanners, printers, private study rooms, the Innovation Lab (3-D printing, green screen technology, sewing machine, and more), the Midlow Center, Women’s Center, meditation zone, Louisiana Special Collections, and so much more.
