Lynch, Columbus State University, Brooke Nelson, formerly California State University, Julie Tatlock, Mount Mary University. World History Volume 2 by Open Stax is licensed as CC BY 4.0 in 2022.
Portions of Chapter One, specifically defining Western Civilization, were adapted from sections of NSCC Libraries Pressbooks Western Civilization: A Concise History (https://pressbooks.nscc.ca/worldhistory/) written by Christopher Brooks which is an Open Educational Resource (OER) published under a CC BY-NC-SA License. Published in 2019, with updates in 2020.

- Throughout the book, images and diagrams were replaced with more appealing or higher quality graphics where applicable.
- H5P activities/multimedia were inserted into sections to reinforce concepts.
- A glossary function was added, which shows definitions when students hover their mouse over a term.
- Learning objectives were put into text boxes at the beginning of each chapter.
- Large sections of Chapter 1 discussing what it means to be a citizen of the world were removed and replaced with information more clearly defining Western Civilization and clarifying “the west” as well as discussing the history of the creation and expansion of western civilizations.
- Chapters 2-5 and Chapter 8 of the original OpenStax text were removed and chapter numbers were reordered to align more with a Western Civilization text.

- Two links to learnings added focusing on the Native peoples of the New World.

- Two links to learnings added focusing on the East India Company.
- Chapter 6
- photo of Japanese Park removed and replaced with drawing of Central Park in New York City.

- Content focused on the state of Louisiana, African Americans, and women’s contributions to WWI have been added.

- Content focused on the state of Louisiana, African Americans, and women’s contributions to WWII have been added.
- Chapter 10
- Content was heavily edited or re-written to focus the material on the western world. While there was a continued effort to keep the “global” perspective, more material on Europe was appropriate. A significant amount of material on China and its internal affairs were removed, as was material on Latin American countries.
- Material on Europe after WWI was sourced from Lumen Learnings Boundless World History and Christopher Brooks, Western Civilization: A Concise History – Volume 3 and Wikipedia
- Chapter 11
- Content was heavily edited or re-written to focus the material on the western world. While there was a continued effort to keep the “global” perspective, more material on Europe was appropriate. A significant amount of material on China and its internal affairs was removed, as was material on Latin American countries. A section on the war in Ukraine was added.
