In this section, students will learn to differentiate the usages between the prepositions por and para.

Por vs. Para
One of the “batallas,” or clashes, of the Spanish language is por vs. para. On the surface, they both mean “for,” but they can each only be used in very specific situations, and they are not interchangeable. Knowing when to use one versus the other can be a challenge for learners, so put in some extra time and effort in order to master the use of these two very common words.
